Brine shrimp larvae (brined juveniles) are the initial stage of hatching from dormant brine shrimp eggs. Because they are well-suited to the mouthparts of larvae and are nutrient-dense, they are a prime starter for aquaculture. Rich in protein and unsaturated fatty acids, they meet the growth needs of shrimp fry (such as whiteleg shrimp) and fish fry (such as guppy fry). They can be obtained flexibly: artificial hatching at a salinity of 15-30‰ and a temperature of 27-30°C (spawning in 24-48 hours), or they can be purchased frozen and fed directly after thawing, taking care to avoid contaminating the water with leftover bait.
